Zasavje

In central Slovenia, the undulating Posavsko hribovje hills spread on the both sides of the Sava River. Wagon roads once led across their picturesque peaks, but today the hills and the mountains above Litija, Zagorje, Trbovlje, and Hrastnik are mostly popular excursion destinations. These towns beside the Sava and close to the most important Slovene railway lines are full of mining traditions. Try a rafting party on the Sava River and have lots of fun with friendly locals!
Here lies the Renaissance Bogensperk Castle, one of the best-preserved castles in Slovenia. A walking trail also leads to the castle, and visitors can explore the Posavje hills as well on the numerous bicycle trails and a well-maintained horseback riding circuit.
This region, too, hides healing thermal water. Medijske Toplice is a health resort where you can benefit from its healing natural powers.
