Dar Ghadames ****

The hotel Dar Ghadames is reminiscent of the traditional Berber style, with its vaulted structure and choice of colors. It offers a very high level of comfort, most certainly unknown in Ghadames up to these days. Large and luminous communal areas overlook, through wide glass windows, the garden of palm trees, cacti and desert plants that surrounds the building.

All 64 rooms and 4 suites have air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Located on two floors, the bedrooms face the internal courtyard with a traditional style well at the centre. Each room has a veranda or patio with a table and two wicker armchairs made by local artisans. The rooms with either two single or a king size bed are decorated with a combination of traditional and modern styles: writing desk, mirror, armchairs, traditional colored cushions and equally colored bedspreads, tapestry drawings and symbols are typical of the Berber culture.

The suites are larger in size and have an Arabian sitting area with carpets and puffs.

The cafeteria, characterized by hand-made copper tables and seats covered with richly embroidered cushions, is an ideal spot to relax. This area leads to the restaurant, rectangular in shape with columns that support rib-vaults. An ample French-window opens onto a terrace facing the central garden.
