Bavaria – Allgaeu - Bodensee

The Bavarian “fairy tale king” Louis II let his fantasy take its course. It is to home that we owe a handful of fabulous castles and palaces. His master piece: Neuschwanstein Castle.
On the other side of the Allgaeu the waves of lake of Constance ripple against the shore. And is right and proper for a city at the “swabian sea” Lindau is very photogenic with a port entrance including lighthouse and superb lion on the stone jetty.
In the Allgaeu region alone 14 spas and health resorts compete for visitors. There is a wide range of treatments from allergy cures to mud baths to thermal cures.
Cheese is to the Allgaeu what the Brandenburg Gate is to Berlin. The best German cheese brands come from the Allgaeu region. 40.000 tons of cheese roll every year from here into the world.
Good Idea: “King Louis Musical”. Staging of the biography of fairly tale king Louis II a picturesque original scenery of Allgaeu Alps and Neuschwanstein Castle.
Good Idea: “The annual Counted Island Festival“. Each year in May, the Bernadotte family invites all and sundry to the Island of Mainau for a colourful market with plants and garden accessories, floristic shows and culinary treats around the castle.
Good Idea: “A boat trip across the lake”. Enjoy the beautiful panoramic sights of Lake Constance on a relaxing boat trip.
