sightseeing & excursions in Berlin
City Sightseeing Berlin
On the Berlin City tour our guests will see former West and East Berlin. One of the highlights in the Eastern part is the historic mile “Unter den Linden”, where you will find the gigantic Cathedral “Berliner Dome”, the former east parliament, the town hall, 2 of Berlins opera houses, the Humboldt University, the Historic Museum, “Neue Wache” which has been the memorial for offers of fascism and tyranny. Also in the area is the island of museums with the Pergamon museum and the national gallery. The absolute highlight Unter den Linden is the Brandenburg Gate which was crowned with the Quadriga in 1794.
After that you will drive towards the Kurfürstendamm which is the shopping paradise of Berlin. You will find all famous name boutiques here, and also a lot of restaurants, cinemas, theatres and much more. Then you’ll come to Gendarmenmarkt, maybe the most beautiful square in town with the two baroque cathedrals from the 18th century and the concert hall in the middle built by Karl-Friedrich Schinkel. Then we’ll arrive at Alexander Platz, centre of the former east Berlin. Here the great demonstrations took place just before the wall was torn down and you can also see the highest building of Berlin which is the TV Tower. At the height of 365 meters you can enjoy the view from the rotating restaurant. Here you still clearly see the social past. And especially on Karl-Marx-Allee this becomes very clear in the specific architecture you find there, typical “stalinistic” style.
Different topics are possible, for example:
Jewish history

This sightseeing tour by bus will present the most attractive and important sights of Berlin to the visitor. Furthermore the guests will pass the Putlitz Bridge – a document of a horrifying past. The memorial on the Putlitz Bridge recalls the deportations of Jewish citizens who where led across this bridge to cattle cars on their way to the concentration camps. We would recommend to combine this tour with a visit of the Jewish Museum.
East/West Berlin

This sightseeing tour by bus will present you the story of Berlin between East and West. Starting with the Potsdamer Platz, Berlin's first railway station once stood here, as did the Fatherland House, and many pubs dance halls. This is also the place where Hitler's bunker once stood, so at the end of World War II the entire area was bombed and completely destroyed. The tour continues to the Topography of Terrors, and the Checkpoint Charlie, in one of those parts of Berlin where you can still see no-man's land which was there in times of the Wall, the Wall itself is still standing.
Museum Island

This museum complex consists of five separate museums that are home to a wonderful collection of 19th-century art and also a well-known archaeological collection. The Old National Gallery exhibits German paintings and sculptures, and also includes some important works of art from some of the French impressionists and 24 paintings by Caspar David Friedrich. The Old Museum is a striking building, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The main floor displays an extensive collection of antiquities and the upstairs galleries are home to many changing exhibitions. The most famous museums are the Pergamon Museum and the Egyptian museum with the portrait bust of Queen Nefertiti.
Olympic stadium

This vast stadium was home to the 1936 Olympics and was built especially for the event. Many world records were set at these Olympics, including five by Jesse Owens. The stadium is without doubt one of Berlin's best remaining examples of architecture from the Nazi period and visitors are only able to view it from the outside, where the features include two huge statues. This has become a popular venue for sporting events, concerts and conferences.
Whole Day Excursion to Potsdam

Potsdam is located right at the gates of Berlin and was already at the times of King Friedrich the Great a metropolis and the most beautiful residency outside of Berlin. After the Berlin Wall came down most of its castles and gardens were renovated and renewed. Gradually the old glamour of Potsdam is re-established and the old and historic buildings renewed. The castle Sanssouci with its beautiful gardens, castle Cecilienhof, the cosy old town of Potsdam with the Dutch quarter and much more can be visited.
