PENINSULA VALDES

Puerto Madryn is a tourist city with beautiful beaches ideal for water sports. Valdes Peninsula, about 2.30 hs. from Puerto Madryn, is an incredible area that resembles an island connected to the continent by a long and narrow stripe of land. On both sides the peninsula surrounds the sea in gulfs of narrow entrances where the quiet and deep waters have become natural breeding areas for a wide variety of sea birds and also for great mammals. The best time of the year to visit the fauna reservations is from August to March when the migrant animals return to the area to breed.
During these months it is possible to see Southern Right whales (only until December), sea elephants and sea wolves, cormorants, petrels, maras (Patagonia hares), guanacos, grey foxes, flamingos, black neck swans and walk among thousands of Magellan penguins.
