CALAFATE

Los Glaciares National Park, one of the most incredible views on Earth, is famous thanks to the Perito Moreno Glacier. This Glacier, together with twelve other, form the Patagonian Continental Ice Field that descends on the Atlantic side to flow into the Viedma and Argentino Lakes. All the sights in the area are breathtaking: Mounts Fitz Roy and Torre, always an attraction for expert climbers from all over the world, crystal clear lakes with incredibly shaped icebergs floating in the deep blue waters and the endless and magic Patagonic desert. UNESCO has declared the park a part of the Natural Heritage of Humanity.

El Calafate, small and charming village located on the shores of the Argentine Lake, is the place to stay when visiting the area. Its closeness to the huge mass of water of the lake, its northern orientation and the artificial protection offered by its trees account for the mild climate of the village, much better than in the surrounding plateau.
